History and Legacy
Chelsea Football Club was founded in 1905 by Gus Mears and Joseph Mears. The club's first match was played against a team of Corinthian reserves on September 10, 1905, which Chelsea won 4-0. Chelsea quickly rose through the divisions, joining the Football League Division One, the top division of English football, in 1907.
Throughout its history, Chelsea has had many successful teams, with the most notable being the 1954-55 team that won the club's first league title and the 2011-12 team that won the club's first Champions League title.
